LAVA
Lava is grown as high as 5,250 feet. Constant eruptions from Fuego volcano keep the coarse, sandy soils full of minerals. Temperate gusts from the Pacific Ocean and marked seasons allow it to be sun-dried. Lava Coffee is a product of both the geography and quality-focused practices at Tehuya, producing a unique flavor that melts mountains.

XOCOMIL
Xocomil is a natural phenomenon at Lake Atitlan. A strong wind current that forms as warm winds from the pacific ocean traverse the mountains and result in cold winds throughout the region. It is so strong that it prevents boats from navigating the lake during certain times of the day. The raw power and elegance of this phenomenon influences the day-to-day of the region as well as the production of its world class coffee.

Coffee to clean water.
Water is life. To many of us, clean water is a critical commodity that isn’t that hard to find. However, in Guatemala, access to clean water is not available to everyone, making their relationship with water unsafe. This is not acceptable. Therefore, we have partnered with local water filter company EcoFiltro Guatemala, a local legend who pioneered water filtration with clay and natural ingredients, to provide free filters to local families. Through this partnership, we are committed to contribute a percentage of each coffee bag we sell towards the purchase of new filters and replacements for those already gifted. We turn coffee into clean water, that is our super power.
Santiago Atitlán is a municipality in the Sololá department of Guatemala. It sits right beside beautiful Lake Atitlán. Santiago is one of the many towns that will benefit from our clean water program.
What is “The Deep End”?
The Deep End- a situation in which a person must face a difficult problem or undertaking with little or no preparation or prior experience.
Mission/Vision- The Deep End Cafe & Gallery aims to provide a space for underrepresented artists and writers to sell & promote their works while enjoying ethically sourced coffee.
The Deep End Cafe & Gallery, founded by Poet & Educator Oceania Cavazos, is a brand and business cultivated by the hands, hearts and minds of so many influential people and groups. Oceania describes her motivation behind the brand saying, “My father went to prison when I was 8 leaving my mother alone to raise me. She use to always say that it takes a village. While she struggled with addiction for many years, she still made sure to nurture her relationships with people so as to offer me a community of safety and care. I was blessed to be loved and at the same time felt the extreme pressure to succeed. I felt the responsibility to lift my loved ones and caretakers out of poverty and write a more empowering narrative for people born into difficult circumstances with little to no resources. Along the way, there have been times where I felt I was drowning. My community always reminds me that there is life in the deep end and under pressure is where diamonds are made. That is why I named the cafe & gallery “The Deep End” and the diamond is in the logo. I want this space to respect and uplift all of the triumphant, tragic and heroic stories from people and artists in the deep end of life. I want this space to be a place where people under pressure can feel relieved knowing that there is a village for them here. It’s a place where we can validate and remind one another that our stories and creative contributions are worth being revered.” At The Deep End Cafe & Gallery, you will witness a diverse curation of featured events and artists on a consistent basis while enjoying unique volcanic coffee beverages and delicious healthy smoothie options. No matter who you are or where you are from, The Deep End Cafe & Gallery is a visit you must make for unforgettable experiences and amazing art, food, and beverages.
